We repair leaking and broken water lines in homes and businesses. Our approach is straightforward: find the problem, explain the proposed work, and give you upfront pricing before you authorize a repair.
Water coming from a broken pipe? Shut off the supply if you can do so safely, then call Uncle's Plumbing at (817) 743-3113.
What Should You Do When a Water Pipe Bursts?
The first priority is stopping water and keeping people away from hazards. You do not need to find the exact break before taking action.
- Turn off the water. Close the main water shutoff valve, if you can reach and operate it safely. For a fixture-specific leak, its local shutoff may stop the flow.
- Avoid electricity. Stay away from wet outlets, appliances, and electrical panels. Do not step into standing water if electrical equipment could be energized.
- Relieve pressure if safe. Once the supply is off, open a cold-water faucet to help drain water remaining in the line.
- Protect belongings. Move items away from the leak only when the area is safe. Photograph damage for your records.
- Arrange plumbing service. Do not restore the water supply until the damaged section has been evaluated.
If you cannot stop the water, contact your water utility for assistance with the service shutoff. A plumber can repair the pipe, but extensive water damage may require separate drying and restoration work.
Why Do Water Pipes Burst?
Freezing weather
North Texas can experience hard freezes. Water freezing inside a pipe may create enough pressure to split a pipe or fitting. Damage can become obvious only after the ice thaws and water begins moving again. Pipes in unheated garages, exterior walls, and other exposed areas are at greater risk.
Aging pipes and corrosion
Older pipes can weaken as they age. Corrosion, worn fittings, or previous repairs may make a section more likely to leak or fail. A single break does not automatically mean the entire house needs new pipes, but recurring leaks deserve closer attention.
High water pressure or damaged connections
Excessive pressure can put extra stress on plumbing. Connections can also fail because of deterioration, movement, or physical damage. Finding the cause helps determine whether repairing the damaged section is enough.

How We Handle Burst Pipe Repairs
Locate the damaged section
Sometimes a broken pipe is visible under a sink or near a water heater. In other cases, the first sign is a wet wall, stained ceiling, or unexplained water beneath flooring. We'll evaluate the affected area and determine what further investigation is needed. For concealed leaks, our leak detection service may help locate the source.
Explain your options and price
We look at the pipe material, the extent of damage, and the condition of nearby plumbing. Then we explain whether a localized repair, replacement of a pipe section, or more extensive work is appropriate. You'll receive upfront pricing before approving the repair.
Repair and check the plumbing
The repair may involve replacing a damaged fitting or a section of water line. After the work, the repaired area is checked for leaks and proper operation as appropriate for the repair. If other weakened sections are identified, we'll explain the concern rather than assuming additional work is required.
Can You Repair One Pipe Instead of Replacing Everything?
Often, yes. When the damaged section is accessible and surrounding pipes are sound, a targeted repair may resolve the problem. Replacing every pipe in a building solely because one has burst is not always necessary.
Broader replacement may be worth considering when plumbing has widespread corrosion, repeated failures, or materials that are deteriorating throughout the property. We can explain the difference between an individual repair and whole-home re-piping without pushing a larger project when the evidence doesn't support it.
If the leak is in the underground line that supplies water to the building, see our water line repair and installation service. A buried service line requires a different assessment than an exposed pipe beneath a sink.
How to Reduce the Risk of Another Burst Pipe
Insulating exposed pipes can help protect them during cold weather. Know where your main shutoff valve is located and make sure responsible members of the household know how to use it. During a freeze, follow local utility guidance for protecting vulnerable plumbing.
Have recurring leaks, unexplained pressure changes, or corrosion evaluated before another failure occurs. Preventive steps can reduce risk, but they cannot guarantee that a pipe will never break.
